Food For Thought
Spent the morning accompanying my parents to run their errands, also to spend some time with them before i leave...so i'm feeling rather tired now. But i'm not that great with naps so now i'm left with this tiredness but inability to sleep. Sighs.
Oh! I had dinner at this incredible place last night with Carmen and Gladys. We just fell in love with the place! The concept behind it was admirable, the interior decorations were simple and practical, the food was great, but service was so-so, due to some slip-ups, but they corrected it. The company made it all even better (:
Food For Thought: good food for a good cause.
Shop front @ 8 Queen St
Unique interior lights in glass bottles
Garlic Prawns with Coriander Linguine
Hoisin Har Cheong Baby Back Ribs
Potato Gratin with Garlic Mushroom
Red Velvet Cake
Butterscotch Apple & Mixed Berries Crumble
We shared all the above food, 2 mains, 1 side and 2 desserts, amongst the 3 of us and it only costs us a total of $60++. Quite reasonably priced indeed.
Their mission is to invest a minimum 10% of our profits into the following five areas of interest: *
1) Support Clean Water
2) Feed Good Food
3) Help End Poverty
4) Educate the People
5) Encourage Good Acts
And these goals are reflected on their paper place mats, alongside innovative mini clipboard menus (:
i am definitely going back to try their all day/9.30-5.30pm breakfast menu! There's another outlet along North Bridge Road but they don't have pancakes for that outlet, though they seem to have a larger variety of mains. Their menu is available in pdf from their website. So looks like i'll be coming back to this one, for my next visit at least.
I just really loved that they had such a great concept behind their enterprises (they started School of Thought before this). Hmmm....I think eventually, in whatever i do with my career path, i hope to be able to contribute somehow to development. Especially after volunteering, despite briefly, with World Vision, i think i've found where my passion lies (:
